Accreditations

bclogosmall

The British Council inspected and accredited Chaucer College in December 2013. The Accreditation Scheme assesses the standards of management, resources and premises, teaching and welfare and accredits organisations which meet the overall standard in each area inspected (seewww.britishcouncil.org/accreditation for details).

bac

Chaucer was first accredited by BAC in January 2009 and subsequent interim and spot-check inspections in 2010 and 2011 found it had maintained its high standards of provision. Kingsgate College was inspected for the first time in 2012.

The College is effectively managed, with well-established procedures to provide a very high level of support for students on both campuses. Staff and the facilities provided are of high quality overall.
Student welfare has some considerable strengths, particularly with regard to induction/orientation, social and sporting activities, the accommodation available and the provision of UK students to support language acquisition and interaction. Teachers demonstrated very good rapport with students, and were clearly working hard to ensure students enjoyed their lessons and social activities and progressed in both English and cultural aspects.

In August each year, an exciting week of music, dancers and performers descend on the seaside town of Broadstairs for Folk Week. To coincide with this festival, Chaucer College Kingsgate will run a course aimed at improving English language skills, whilst also giving students and avid music fans a chance to learn about and listen to live folk music.
