The Will Adams Festival

12th September 2009

For the third consecutive year, Chaucer College students took part in the Will Adams Festival, Gillingham. Aika Hirata performed the elegant Yotsudake dance and sang two traditional songs accompanied by the San Shin, an Okinawan banjo. Our Fisherman's Dance troupe also performed the dynamic and exciting Soran Bushi, telling the story of Japanese fishermen and their daily struggle against the cold, stormy seas.

Chaucer College was also involved in the martial arts programme, with four students, Ryosuke Goto, Narihiro Sakayori, Kazuyuki Niibe and Masanori Yuzawa performing a Kendo demonstration.

Chaucer also offered a number of interactive stalls including Origami, Calligraphy, Manga art and Japanese chess.
