Chaucer College was founded in 1992 by Mr Hiroshi Kawashima. It is an independent College of Higher Education for Japanese students from Shumei University, located on the main campus of the University of Kent, close to the beautiful and historic city of Canterbury.
It is a residential college with accommodation in individual rooms for about 200 students.
The students are mainly in the first year of their Shumei University course and come to Chaucer College for the first five months of this course. Some students come to join a course which prepares them to study at the University of Kent.
All students have access to study facilities and sports and leisure facilities at Chaucer College and also at the University of Kent.
Chaucer College is the trading name of Shumei Eiko Ltd (Registered in England No. 2562565). Registered Charity No. 1002647. British Council registered IELTS Centre No. 61402.
Accredited by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education.
