Dr. Keith Wren

Dr Keith Wren became Vice-Chancellor of Chaucer College in October 2005, having previously worked for many years in the British University system, where he firstly taught French language and literature prior to changing focus to Comparative Literary Studies (World Literature in translation). In addition he was for eight years (1993-2001) Admissions Officer for the University of Kent’s Faculty of Humanities, and Master of Eliot College at the same University from 2001 until 2005.

He is enthusiastic about Chaucer College and its role in the community, which he has tried to develop through initiatives, intended both to take students out of the College to bring Japanese culture to local people, and to bring local people into the College through Open Days and similar events. “Our students are such good ambassadors for Japan, and for international co-operation in general”, he says. “We hear nothing but praise for their hard work as volunteers and keenness to get involved. And this is the best was for them to improve their English, which is what they come here to do".
