A typical day for a resident at Chaucer College
The day starts at 7.45am in the dining room with a healthy, substantial and filling breakfast – choose from our typical full English or continental options.
You then have a morning of stimulating and interesting classes. Study through fun and activity-based lessons which focus on communication. Writing, reading and listening exercises will complement and strengthen all aspects of the syllabus.
A mid-morning break is provided to give you a chance to refresh. Why not play some table-tennis or outdoor sports or practice your learning by chatting with your classmates. For those with a sweet tooth, the handy tuck shop is open during the break.
12.30pm… Lunchtime! Our chefs have been busy preparing your meal, fresh each day. Catering for every need, choose from something hot or cold, top up with the salad bad and finish with a delicious light dessert.
Be sure to fill yourself up as after lunch you will take part in one of our activities or project classes. This can include a trip to Margate or Ramsgate, a visit to a local museum or for those with lots of energy, enjoy a game of volleyball or any other of your favourite sports.
After your active afternoon, replenish your energy with a hot evening meal at the College, in preparation for the evening programme. To keep you entertained, enjoy a bowling match, a laser shooting game or learn some African Dumming!
If the weather is good, our experienced chefs are on hand to prepare a mouth-watering barbecue while you relax in the garden area or use up the rest of your energy in a friendly football match. On a wet day, our quiz and karaoke evenings will ensure you are just about ready for a good night’s sleep.
