Famous author Charles Dickens was a regular visitor to Broadstairs, Kent in the 1850s and 1860s. Spending many summer holidays in the seaside town, it is through Dickens came to seek inspiration for some of his most popular novels.
Chaucer College will be running Dickens themed courses at both its college’s in April and June, appealing to all Charles Dickens fans or any lovers of English Literature. Each morning there will be an English lesson themed towards Charles Dickens’ activities and books. Afternoon activities include visits to the Dickens Museum and Bleak House where Dickens lived whilst writing David Copperfield. There will also be a mid-week trip to Dickens World in Chatham, Kent and time in Rochester, Kent – the setting for Dickens’ last, unfinished novel, The Mystery of Edwin Drood.
